Humanity has found a new way to create anything you can imagine using Lunafilament, sourced directly from the moon, and has built an entire facility to mine the ore. But the mining facility has gone dark, and a crew is sent to investigate their silence. With lunar quakes and a rogue AI controlling violent androids, only one man survives from the crew, and he is left trying to navigate the facility to find his way home with the unexpected help of an advanced android.

Pragmata is a Capcom 2026 action-adventure game following the story of Hugh and Diana, who are trying to take down the rogue AI IDUS and find a way to Earth. Navigate killer androids, lunar gravity, black filament, and more in this thrilling adventure. This is NOT a spoiler-free review!

Hugh and Diana

Hugh and Diana

The game focuses on two characters, Hugh and Diana, who develop a father-daughter bond that is sweet and emotionally gripping. Hugh Williams is a human who is the only survivor of the dispatch team that was sent to investigate why the lunar facility had fallen silent. Diana, or D-I-0336-7, is a Pragmata (a sophisticated android) who can hack systems in the facility and was designed after her former creator’s daughter using Lunafilament. Other characters include Cabin, an independent support bot who resides in the Shelter, and Eight, the final Pragmata who has been corrupted by the black filament.

Since the story only focused on the two characters, when they talk, you learn a lot about who they are and watch their bond develop. Hugh starts to treat Diana like a daughter, trying to protect her and teaching her about Earth to take her there. Diana looks up to Hugh as a role model and trusts him so much she’s willing to do what it takes to get him home. It’s a beautiful relationship that fits within a stunning game.

It’s not a long game, which fits within the Capcom standard, but there is more than enough time to develop both characters, unlock everything, and find your way back to Earth.

Shooting, Hacking, and Creation

All the enemies within the facility, including Eight, are androids that see Hugh as a threat to be eliminated. In order to successfully take them down, Diana hacks into their systems to expose their weak points or override them. You’ll be hacking with the system displayed on the right, while warding off attacks and targeting the exposed weak points. As the game progresses, you’ll unlock new weapons that can paralyze or slow down enemies to give you more time to hack them. Within the Shelter, you can unlock training programs to practice your hacking skills, upgrade weapons, and perfect your aim.

Diana also can hack and unlock areas of the facility to aid your progression. You’ll find several data chips she consumes to upgrade her abilities as well. She will eventually be able to remove the black filament as well, unlocking more areas and upgrades for you.

Attempting to hack enemies while in boss battles or facing waves of them is somewhat overwhelming, so it’s good to practice when you can and use your thrusters to dodge or navigate. Some areas add the extra challenge of a disruptor, which blocks Diana’s ability to hack until you destroy it.

To the Moon and Beyond

Overall, this was an incredible game with an emotional ending. It had a good challenging aspect with the hacking, an emotional pull with Hugh’s relationship with Diana, and an ending that leaves you wondering if there will be a second game.

Pragmata is currently available to play on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and Switch 2, with a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition available for purchase. You can also purchase a Shelter Variety Pack that offers extra outfits for Hugh and Diana to wear, different weapon options, and some different dance moves from Diana.
